Diagnology was founded by Peter Keeling (CEO) and Pat Considine (CSO) in 1995.
The company had some success, developing the first 'point of care test' for the specific detection of herpes simplex virus type 2 (POCkit HSV2 Rapid Test) in September 1998, and followed this with the launch of a rapid test to detect Bacterial Vaginosis (POCkit BV Quadro Rapid Test) in September 2001.
Diagnology is no longer in business, their HSV2 kit is currently being marketed by Biokit USA.
One possible reason for the company's failure is that their test despite being almost suitiable for use in a doctor's office - did not aquire the "Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments" regulation waiver which would have allowed it to be used in such circumstances.
